FANTASYLAND

By todays standards, this is a very simple ride for the whole family. As music from Disney’s classic 1953 film Peter Pan fills the air, you are taken on a whimsical ride that you won’t want to end. With a little pixiedust from Tinkerbell, fly over a moonlit London in a pirate galleon. You’ll spot the London Bridge and Big Ben on your journey.

With a little faith and pixiedust, you’ll descend to Never Land. Hold on as Peter Pan valiantly battles with Captain Hook aboard the pirate ship to save Wendy and her brothers.

Inspired by the title character from the 1941 Disney motion picture, Dumbo will take you flying over the Magic Kingdom. Jump inside one of sixteen Dumbo themed gondolas as Dumbo discovers he can fly.Easy to use joysticks help you go up or down so you can control just how high (or low) you actually fly while listening to circus music.

Take a journey during a blustery day in the Hundred Acre Woods. Hop aboard one of Pooh’s hunny pots as your adventure begins on this slow paced ride full of wonderful sounds from the movie including Heffalumps and Woozels. The “blustery day” sequence gets a little dark, but otherwise, this ride is well lit.

The scent of honey greets you as you exit the ride and enter the gift shop.

This is the attraction that every one moans about yet they just have to ride!  You’ll exit with the catchy melody in your head that will stay with you for, well, life!!!!

Fun for all ages, this gentle boat ride will float you past nearly 300 brightly coloured costume dolls and animals as they sing “it’s a small world”  in five languages. Some are dancing. Some are playing. Some are singing. Some are on Ferris Wheels, Some are playing instruments. Some are…..well you get the general idea.

Board your wooden, 6-passenger car and get ready for a journey through dark and creepy surroundings. This is a slow moving track which takes you deep into the castle of Snow White’s wicked stepmother. Surprises lie around every corner as you make your way through the Enchanted Forest with the evil stepmother on your trail.

Special effects are minimal, relying on the darkness for the eerie effect. Beware of vultures and old women pedling apples along the way!

Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel is an authentic carousel ride which sits directly behind the Castle. In true amusement park tradition, this 90-horse carousel plays organ-based Disney classics during its 2 minute ride such as “When You Wish Upon a Star.” Adults and children alike adore riding the ornate horses and there are even a few benches for the little ones in the family. Climb aboard an ornate carrousel horse and gallop along with Cinderella and her Prince Charming through a whirling backdrop of color and music

Cinderella’s own horse can be found in the second rank of horses. It is the only one that has a golden bow on its tail.

Ariel’s Grotto is an ocean-themed play area at Magic Kingdom theme park where young kids can play and meet Ariel.

Come play under the sea and meet Princess Ariel from the Walt Disney Pictures film The Little Mermaid in her Fantasyland home. Pose for a photo and get an autograph at this vibrant grotto brimming with starfish, coral and waterfalls.

Frolic among the fun-filled fountains and play areas. Ariel’s Grotto features a soft, spongy play area surface for little ones and a covered area for adults.

If you have problems with spinning, avoid this ride! Not only do the teacups spin on the platform, but you can turn the wheel in the center of the cup to make your individual teacup spin too! The faster you turn the wheel, the faster your cup – and you will spin. The cups will hold three average adults and ther are no restraints apart from the door of the teacup closing behind you. Watch for the Dormouse, who periodically pops out of the teapot in the center of the platform

Many classic Disney characters were animated using computer graphics for the first time specifically for Mickey’s PhilharMagic. When Donald Duck decides to borrow Mickey’s sorcerer’s hat from Fantasia, he plans to conduct a magical symphony. But things do not go as expected, and he ends up on a whirlwind tour of some of the most memorable scenes in Disney animation history. Be on the lookout for a few extra special surprises!

So, put on your “opera glasses” and the action starts up—in glorious 3D.

  

ADVENTURELAND

Pirates of the Caribbean is a classic attraction as it appeals to big kids, teens and adults. You’ll also get to see an image of Davy Jones in the water spary before you take a 14-foot drop over a waterfall into pirate caves. The boat then floats through a town where pirates are pillaging and Captain Jack Sparrow is hiding.

You’ll find yourself in the midst of a battle with cannon shots and orders being yelled from the pirate ship. “Yo-ho yo-ho a pirates life for me” will echo through your ears as you keep your eyes peeled for captain Jack Sparrow – he’ll pop up from a barrel and can even be spotted sitting amongst a mountain of gold and jewels.

Guest Policies: Guests may remain in wheelchair/ECV. This attraction has one very dark patch during which you cruise through a cave.

Travel on the rivers of three different continents. See exotic animals, zany explorers and ancient ruins as your skipper leads you deep into the jungle. The boats are canopied launches modeled on the African Queen and steered by a Disney cast member who keeps up a witty banter throughout the ride. Even when you’ve heard the same corny joke before, you still find yourself laughing.

As you pass through jungle scenes, on the banks and in the river itself you come across various animatronic animals and people; watch out for hostile natives and the elephants who may get you wet.

The cruise takes on a whole different feel when ridden in the dark — this is also a less crowded time to take the ride.

This ride is similar to the Dumbo ride in Fantasyland only this time each car takes four people. It is based upon the Disney cartoon ‘Aladdin’ and you soar around on a magic carpet over the town of Agrabah. There is a lever in the front which controls the height and a lever in the back which controls the pitch forwards and backwards.

The Enchanted Tiki Room has been updated, hence the ‘under new management’ sign and now includes Iago from Aladdin and Zazu from the Lion King. Inside the dark and cool theater, you’re seated on long, backless benches, with all the animatronic birds perched above. There’s singing, jokes and a tropical storm during the performance. You’ll either love it or start running tot he nearest exit!

 

swissfamilySwiss Family Treehouse

Guest Policies: The “Swiss Family Treehouse” is one of the few attractions that are totally inaccessible for people who are not mobile. There are no lifts in the treehouse, just steps.

A walking attraction through a giant banyan tree house complete with running water. The make-believe tree recreates the home the shipwrecked family in the movie builds for themselves, right down to the organ in the living room and the skylight in the parents’ bedroom. Books are open, the dinner table is set.

At the top of the tree, you look out on to Adventureland below — there’s a view of the winding river and Jungle Cruise, giving the feeling of being in the middle of a tropical island.

 

FRONTIERLAND

Expectant mothers should not ride. Wheelchair guests must be able to transfer from their wheelchairs into the train in order to ride.

A relatively mild coaster taking you through an abandoned gold mine in the old west. Thrill seekers will prefer riding in the back of the train as it is more exciting than in the front. You really have to pay attention or you may miss the great scenery and attention paid to detail like the skeleton of the dinosaur built into the mountain. The thrills come from the perceived instability of the mine and it threat of collapse. 

Riding at night gives you a whole new experience as you fly by the twinkling lights of the Magic Kingdom.

This flume ride takes you through the Song of the South story filled with audio animatronics and then down a 52 ft. drop at 40 MPH. Splash Mountain begins with a peaceful outdoor float that leads to indoor dark segments. The log first turns and begins to climb a small hill. An audio-animatronic of Br’er Frog greets guests and tells them that they will be travelling to a wet story. Over 100 Audio-animatronic figures entertain you as your log boat winds its way through caves and swamps, and down three minor drops before the 52 footer hits you!

Riders may purchase after unloading the log a picture of their log falling at the final drop.

Clap along to the foot-stompin’ hoedown as a pack of banjo-strumming, country singing bears entertain you with songs and jokes and never ever hibernate. You’ll be entertained by 18 bears, a raccoon, a buffalo, a stag and a moose! The Audio-animatronic bears are led by Henry, all seven feet of him. You’ll soon be singing along with corny songs such as ‘My Woman Ain’t Pretty, But She Don’t Swear,’ and ‘All The Guys That Turn Me On Turn Me Down.’

Tom Sawyer Island is a large playground for kids which stays open until dusk. Board a motorized raft at the dockside to take you to the island. While little ones are playing, adults can sit in rocking chairs and play checkers, or explore the grounds with the working water wheel, follow the dirt paths and then rest on benches found scattered throughout. Also home to Aunt Polly’s Dockside Inn. The menu there is limited, but this is a wonderful place for a picnic.  

 

TOMORROWLAND

Because you can’t see the track, you never know which way the track will twist and turn as it dips and swerves through the galaxy. At speeds of 28 mph, it is a bone rattling, dark, roller coaster.

To reach the ride you must first enter a small elevator that takes you up to the loading area of the rocket ships.

There isn’t much to this ride except the wonderful view of Tomorrowland once you are in the air. This is an exceptionally breathtaking view at night! Use your joystick to raise and lower your rocket. This ride takes you a lot higher than Dumbo!

 

stitchStitch’s Great Escape

Age range: Big kids –  may scare younger children. Height restriction of 40” or taller.

This is Stitch up to his usual antics including bouncing on people and spitting on them! You also get a whiff of one of Stitch’s burps! Those who tend to be claustrophobic might not like the restraint that comes down over your shoulders for the duration of the show.  

You play the part of a new security recruit in the Galactic Federation Prisoner Teleport Centre.  You must guard Experiment 626… Stitch. With the ability to wreak havoc wherever he goes, be prepared for hilarious high-jinks when he unleashes his naughty self in this out-of-control attraction. You never know where he will appear next!

Burn up the track in this pint-sized version of a raceway. Real petrol-powered cars can be driven by anyone tall enough to reach the pedal. Steer and control the speed of your own race car on this thrilling speedway. Cars reach a maximum speed of 7.5 mph with 9hp engines. As you cross finish line, the chequered flag is waved and you arrive in Victory Circle.

 

ttaTomorrowland Transit Authority

Located below Astro Orbiter and above ground level, the attraction known throughout Tomorrowland simply as “TTA” takes you on a mile long journey throughout Tomorrowland. The TTA is a 10 mph ride that will highlight all the attractions of Tomorrowland, including an inside tour of Space Mountain. To reach the loading platform you will step onto a moving conveyor belt that is at a steep incline. The loading platform moves at the same speed as the vehicles, so you can step inside easily. Each vehicle can seat four persons, two riding forward and two riding backward. A great place to rest your feet and enjoy the views.

Help Mike Wazowski, your “Monster of Ceremonies,” and his wild and crazy pals power the city of Monstropolis — with laughter! Mike and his buddies have transformed the Laugh Floor at Monsters, Inc. into a comedy club for visiting humans. You won’t have the exact same experience twice as Mike invites his furry and funny friends to the digital stage to trade jokes with audience members like you. And don’t miss the wise-cracking Roz, who isn’t sure Mike is up to the task! By the end of the show, the canister is full and Roz appears to dismiss the audience

Be a junior Space Ranger and pilot your Star Cruiser through imaginative, immersive worlds. You are the pilot as you swirl through a comical cosmos! Go on a daring space mission to save the toy universe from the sinister Emperor Zurg. Each vehicle has a central joystick for spinning and two laser canons, each with its own score board. You have the ability to spin as much as you need to shoot the targets. Hit the top of the volcano for 100,000 points.

This is a great interactive ride for the whole family.

 

MICKEY’S TOONTOWN FAIR

Age range: Small kids. Height requirement 33” or taller. Children under 3 must be accompanied by an adult. The Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm is designed for adults and children to be able to ride together. Children must be at least three years old to ride.

Guest Policies:  Guests in ECVs must transfer to standard wheelchairs, then to the ride vehicle to experience The Barnstormer.

The coaster itself is designed to look like a 1920s crop-duster, a biplane that takes you over red barns and farm buildings. Fly through the barn much to the surprise of the audio-animatronic chickens inside.  In typical Goofy fashion, you finish the ride by safely “crashing” into one of the barns.

The Miss Daisy is Donald Duck’s blue, yellow and red boat that features Daisy Duck herself on the boat’s bow. The boat’s is anchoredt on a foamy ocean with lily pads that spout jumping streams and spray without warning. Young ones can run around on the spongy ground, and venture inside to spin the Captain’s Wheel, pull the ship’s whistle (which causes water to spurt out the top of the boat), or ring the boats bell. Look for Donald’s laundry hanging from the boat’s rigging

Take a wacky walking tour of Mickey’s house including his bedroom, living room, kitchen, gamse room and garden. Filled with hilarious details and interactive elements that are a delight for children of all ages.  This is a must see for any Mickey fan.

Check out his hall table where you’ll see Mickey’s mail. Buzz, Ariel and Peter Pan have all sent post to the mouse. On his bedside table is a photo of his long term sweetheart, Minni Mouse. Out in the back yard, you’ll see Pluto’s  kennel. Don’t miss the nearby Pete’s Garage and the Judge’s Tent for photo opportunities with Mickey and Minnie together.

Mickey Mouse’s country neighbour and long-time girlfriend invites you on a tour of her ultra-feminine, totally Minnie bungalow. Lots of pink and purple from the tip top of her heart-shaped weathervane to cartoon  furniture, everything says “welcome” and “fun.”  Minnie’s home includes interactive touches for the young ones to explore including an answering machine where you can listen to messages from Mickey and Goofy. In her kitchen, you can open her fridge and a blast of cold air hits you. See what she likes to snack on (cheese flavoured ice cream) and even her microwave pops popcorn.

Afterwards take a stroll through her garden complete with gazebo.

 

LIBERTY SQUARE

Theatrical magic brings you up close and personal to all of the Presidents of the United States. In a one-of-a-kind combination of widescreen film, breath-taking Audio Animatronics and Disney storytelling, all 42 U. S. presidents gathered together.  

The lobby of the theatre is filled with portraits of the presidents. You enter a darkened, 700-seat theatre and view a patriotic film in which paintings are projected onto a screen that stretches 180 degrees around the room. The film covers much United States history, focusing on the origins of the Constitution and the presidency.

Once the film ends, the screen parts and you are looking at lifelike Audio-Animatronic US presidents. Each figure moves in some way, even if it is just a nod of the head as their names are called. All of the clothing on the figures are authentic reproductios of their respective eras, including the braces on Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s legs.

The attraction comes to a close with Barack Obama, and the 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, who actually rises from his chair.

Take a journey back in time aboard this genuine replica of an early American steam ship. Cruise around Tom Sawyer Island as you take in the ambience of the gently-rolling river. Departing several times a day, most areas are standing only….although there are a few seats. This scenic tour offers a variety of props along the riverbank to simulate a wild west effect. You have a choice of three decks to take in the passing scenery, the best views being from the top deck. This is also where you’ll be able to take a peek at the captain’s quarters.

Hop aboard a Doom Buggy with your ghost host and encounter spine-tingling terrors. Experience the stretching room, the séance, and meet hitchhiking ghouls as you make your way through a mansion with some scary surprises!  

This popular attraction starts to line up outdoors where guests are treated to the humorous headstones in the graveyard “Here lies poor old Fred, A great big rock fell on his head,” “Dear departed brother Dave, He chased a bear into a cave,”  “Rest in peace, brother Huet. We all know you didn’t do it.” Be sure to note the tombstone, on your left just before you enter the mansion, which honours the late Walt Disney Imagineer Leota Thomas. Every few minutes, the lovely Leota’s sculpted head leans forward, opens its bright green eyes, then closes them again.

Butlers and maids who are always the picture of doom and gloom greet you at the door and escort you into the library also known as the stretching room, does the ceiling go up or does the floor go down?

Speakers inside each doom buggy allow your Ghost Host to explain the spooky scenes that unfold around you. You move through the library, conservatory, hallways, ballroom, attic and even graveyards. In the ballroom scene, holographic images dance around the room.  

As your doom buggy turns sideways, you pass in front of a mirror. Thanks to a little Disney magic, an eager, hitchhiking ghost appears inside each doom buggy with you, sometimes even sitting on your knee!

Ride the rails aboard one of these four nostalgic trains as they take 20 minute journeys around the park. Disembark this authentic steam-powered locomotive on Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland or Mickey’s Toontown Fair. You can’t miss the Main Street train station as you enter the Magic Kingdom. This scenic stop is the first spot where you’ll hear “all aboard” before the train sets out on its 20 minute journey. A recorded narration describes the sights you’re seeing as you make the circuit around the park at a leisurely, 10-12 mph pace.

The Disney World trains are named the Lilly Belle (after Walt’s wife Lillian), the Roger E. Broggie (legendary Disney Imagineer), the Roy O. Disney (Walt’s brother) and there’s one named after Walt himself.
