KRAKENKraken is, as its name suggests, a mythological sea monster. In SeaWorld’s vision, the kraken is a giant version of the dragon eel, a multicoloured cousin of the moray eel. The kraken can be seen emerging from its "lair," a rock formation near the attraction entrance. Within the rock is a small cave holding the creature's "eggs," in actuality spherical aquariums in which reside another variety of eel.
It drops rides from over fifteen stories and turns them upside down seven times at speeds reaching 65 miles per hour. The Kraken features a drop of 144 feet and a track length of 4,177 feet.
The track is sky blue, with beige supports. Its three trains each feature eight cars, with each car carrying four guests sitting side-by-side, for a total of 32 passengers per train. Guests are secured using an over-the-shoulder harness with locking seat belt. As with other floorless coasters, mechanisms under the loading station track raise temporary platforms into position to allow guests to board, then retract them out of the way so the train may leave the station. In order to reduce the noise made by the roller coaster train, the tubular steel rails are filled with sand.
You coaster down from the top of the track at 65mph. During the ride you'll do 7 upside down loops and plunge underground three times! One unexpected plunge will take you into Kraken's lair, through a tunnel and will send water splashing out all over passers by! A good portion of this 4,000ft long ride takes you over water.
